DUTY DETAILS
Volunteer Firefighters play a critical role in protecting their communities by performing a variety of duties. They often balance these responsibilities with their full-time jobs and personal lives, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and community safety.
Before engaging in the duties listed below, a new recruit will undergo an entry-level physical to ensure “fit for duty” status. Training will be provided as part of the onboarding process in addition to proper protective equipment (PPE).

FIRE SUPPRESSION
Responding to and extinguishing structure, vehicle, and wildland fires to protect lives and property.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE
Providing first aid, CPR, and basic life support during medical emergencies, often serving as the first responders on the scene.

Assisting in vehicle extrications, water rescues, and other emergency rescue situations.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Conducting fire prevention programs, school visits, and community outreach to educate the public on safety practices.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE
Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining firefighting equipment, vehicles, and gear to ensure readiness for emergencies.

TRAININGS & DRILLS
Attending regular training sessions to stay up to date on firefighting techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.

DISASTER RESPONSE
Assisting with disaster recovery efforts during events such as floods, storms, and other large-scale emergencies.

SUPPORT ROLES
Providing logistical support during emergencies, such as managing incident command, directing traffic, or setting up equipment.
