REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must reside within the district to qualify for membership. Members must be at least 21 years old, unless they have previously served as cadets within the department, in which case the minimum age is 20. Cadets must be 17 years old and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in school to apply for membership. A valid driver’s license and a clear background check are also required. Training will be provided.

Paonia Volunteer Fire Department
The Paonia Volunteer Fire Department is fully operated by volunteers serving an area of 50 square miles in Delta County. The department responds to a variety of incidents, including structure fires, wildfires, vehicle accidents, water rescues, mountain rescues, and more. Additionally, Paonia Fire Department provides the same services for the Ragged Mountain Fire Protection District in Gunnison County. They collaborate closely with other fire districts in the county as well as state and federal agencies, offering in-house training along with opportunities for external training.
